Bryan Family Cemetery at Waveland
Two Headstones:
#1 Flat stone, laid over grave, still
in one piece, only a
little weathering, easy to read
Sacred to the memory of Margaret
P. Bryan
Born Nov. 3rd
1818
Died Sep. 2nd
1835
When Blooming Youth is snatched away
By death’s resistless hand,
Our hearts the mournful tribute pay
Which pity may demand.
While pity prompts the rising sigh
O may this truth imprest
With awful power I too must die
Sink deep in every breath
#2 Flat stone, laid over grave to the
right of stone listed
above, in two pieces, more weathering than other stone and crack at an
angle
makes couple words hard to read
Sacred to the memory of Isabella
I. Bryan
Born July 16th
1813
Died May 31st
18—
My flesh shall sh--- underground
Till the last trumpet’s
joyful sound
Then burst the chain with sweet
surprise
And in my saviour’s
image----(rise?)
O glorious hour O blest abode
I shall be near and like my God
And sin and death no more control
The sacred pleasure of my soul.
